Navigation: 3 mega menus (Events, Eat & Drink, Explore) with 2/3 link pane + 1/3 editorial spotlight panel. 2 simple dropdowns (Parking & Safety, About) with icon + label + description per row. Donate CTA styled as distinct button. Per SNA_Navigation_Strategy_OSA: mega menus trigger on hover (200ms open / 300ms close delay in production); editorial panels are CMS-managed single post references with fallback defaults; Explore groups subpages by section (Art & Culture, Shopping, Experiences, Stay); Shopping nav shows only Fashion, Gifts, and All Shopping (analytics-informed — other categories accessible via landing page); Events editorial panel uses NAVY background; Eat & Drink and Explore editorial panels use white background. Mobile: all menus convert to accordion drawers, editorial panels omitted.

Gallery Hop is March 7 — See What's On View All 2026 Dates
§1 — Hero. Full-width cinematic hero establishing Gallery Hop's brand identity. The Ohio Magazine quote positions the event as culturally significant, not just a recurring calendar entry. Image should show Gallery Hop in action — activated streets, mix of gallery-goers and performers, warm evening light. Prioritize images that show scale and energy, not a single gallery interior.

Dynamic CTA: The primary CTA updates based on proximity to the next Gallery Hop. Within 14 days: "Gallery Hop is [Date] — See What's On" linking to that month's event instance. When farther out: "Next Gallery Hop: [Date]" with a secondary "View All 2026 Dates" link. This dynamic behavior is the single biggest upgrade over the current page — confirm with dev team whether date-proximity logic can be automated in WordPress or needs a static "next event" field maintained by SNA.

★ SNA should build a dedicated Gallery Hop photography library — this page and the Gallery Hop Spotlight on Galleries & Exhibitions both depend on strong hero-quality imagery. ★ If SNA prefers an action-oriented headline over the quote, alternatives: "First Saturday. Every Month." or "Gallery Hop: Every First Saturday, 4–8pm."

What Is Gallery Hop?

Gallery Hop has run every first Saturday since 1984 — one of the longest-running events of its kind in the country. It is free, open to everyone, and turns the entire Short North Arts District into a walkable arts experience.

Galleries and non-traditional art venues — restaurants, boutiques, salons, and studios — participate by spotlighting local, national, and international artists. Street performers and vendors activate High Street alongside the gallery programming. Shows rotate monthly, so each Gallery Hop is a different program.

It is a full-district event, not just a gallery walk. Shops, restaurants, and bars are all open and part of the experience.

Hops on High takes Gallery Hop's energy district-wide — an all-day open streets event with expanded programming.

§2 — What Is Gallery Hop? Evergreen editorial — does not change month to month. Two to three short paragraphs establishing what Gallery Hop is for first-time visitors, while reinforcing its stature for returning visitors. Key points: founded 1984, free, galleries + non-traditional venues, street performers, full-district experience. Framing must feel institutional without being stuffy.

Hops on High callout: Brief inline callout (not a full section) distinguishing Hops on High as the open-streets extension. Do not give it its own section here — it should feel like a related note, not a competing headline.

Your Gallery Hop Evening

Three ways to experience the first Saturday of every month.

[ Gallery interior · Art on walls ]

Art Exhibitions

Gallery interiors showcasing established and emerging Ohio artists alongside national and international work. Restaurants, boutiques, salons, and studios participate alongside traditional galleries. Shows rotate monthly — each Gallery Hop is a different program.

[ Street performers · High Street activated ]

On the Streets

Street performers activate High Street from 4–8pm: saxophonists, singers, dance troupes, stilt walkers, and stage characters. Vendors and pop-ups fill the nooks and doorways. Public art — murals, installations, and outdoor work — is part of the walking experience.

The Whole District

Shops, restaurants, and bars are all open and part of the experience. Gallery Hop is a reason to arrive — and then explore the whole neighborhood. Arrive for the art, stay for dinner, drinks, and whatever catches your eye.

§3 — What to Expect. Three experience pillars giving first-timers a concrete mental picture of the evening. Each pillar maps to a distinct part of the Gallery Hop experience: gallery interiors, street activation, and the broader district. Presented as cards with images and short copy.

Tone for Pillar 3 is warm invitation, not a hard sell — framing Gallery Hop as the entry point to a broader evening, not just two hours of gallery walking. CTAs link to existing site sections (Galleries & Exhibitions, Public Art, Explore) for cross-pollination.

★ Image direction: Pillar 1 = gallery interior with art on walls; Pillar 2 = performers on High Street, evening light; Pillar 3 = broader district atmosphere, shops and diners, energy and movement.

§4 — Next Gallery Hop / What's on View. This section replaces the function of the current monthly exhibitions editorial pages (/march-2026-exhibitions, etc.). It must be dynamic — not manually updated each month. Surfaces two layers: the upcoming Gallery Hop event instance (date, teaser, CTA to event detail page) and active exhibitions filtered to Gallery Hop weekend.

Feature block: Pulls from the Gallery Hop event instance in WordPress. Date, teaser copy (from event description or auto-generated: "This month's Gallery Hop features [X] participating galleries"), and CTA to the event instance page.

What's on View module: Exhibition cards showing title, gallery name (links to business profile), artist name(s), dates, and optional thumbnail. Data source: same events/exhibition feed as the Currently on View module on Galleries & Exhibitions — no manual data entry by SNA staff required once exhibition records are in the CMS.

Fallback state: If no Gallery Hop event is scheduled within 45 days, or no exhibitions are tagged, surface the full 2026 date list with a prompt to check back closer to the next event. Do not leave this section empty.

★ Maintenance owner: SNA Events/Marketing team — responsible for ensuring Gallery Hop event instances are created in the CMS with accurate dates and descriptions.

Getting Here →

Free Admission

All galleries and street programming are free. No tickets or reservations required.

Pet-Friendly

Outdoor areas are pet-friendly. Check with individual galleries for indoor policies.

§5 — 2026 Dates & Plan Your Visit. Evergreen structure; year and dates updated annually. Two-column layout: date grid (left) showing all 12 months with past dates dimmed and the next event highlighted, paired with practical logistics (right).

Parking callout is a UX necessity, not optional. Gallery Hop is one of the highest-traffic evenings in the district. Visitors who can't find parking leave frustrated and don't return. Surface it here, not just on the Parking page. Links to Parking Map & Garages and Getting Here pages.

Additional logistics: Free admission, pet-friendly (outdoor areas), and accessibility info when available. These are the practical details that reduce friction for first-timers.

★ The date grid should auto-dim past dates and highlight the next upcoming Gallery Hop. Consider making each date cell linkable to that month's Gallery Hop event instance page when it exists in the CMS. ★ Maintenance: SNA Marketing creates a recurring reminder to update the date list in November/December each year.

§6 — Cross-Sell Block. Three tiles positioned before the global footer. Each links to a complementary section of the site, extending the Gallery Hop visit into broader engagement with the district.

Tile 1 (Galleries & Exhibitions) positions year-round gallery visiting. Tile 2 (Artists & Creatives) surfaces the people behind the work. Tile 3 (Events Calendar) widens the aperture beyond Gallery Hop. Image direction: Tile 1 = gallery interior, clean aesthetic; Tile 2 = artist at work (the making process, not the finished piece); Tile 3 = district energy.

★ If Hops on High is approaching, swap Tile 3 for a Hops on High callout seasonally. Otherwise Tile 3 remains stable as the events calendar link.
★ Maintenance: SNA/OSA — update Tile 3 swap seasonally if applicable, otherwise stable.

PRE-FOOTER — Global component displayed on every page. Combines newsletter signup + social links into a persistent strip above the footer.
Footer consolidates full sitemap. Social links in pre-footer above. Links connect to wireframes where available; # = placeholder for pages not yet wireframed.
